The National Association of Long-Term Care Volunteers (NALTCV) is recognized and embraced by long-term care providers as a valuable resource for increasing community awareness and engagement through well-trained, credentialed volunteers who go on to provide meaningful support for and collaborate with professional care staff to improve the quality of life for the people living and working in long-term care communities. Our Mission The NALTCV’s mission is to 1) educate a volunteer workforce that makes a positive and measurable impact on the quality of care and quality of life of the people living in long-term care communities, 2) coordinate with existing volunteer efforts that are serving in long-term care communities, 3) spotlight the value of long-term care volunteers, 4) research the efficacy of volunteers to impact both the quality of care and quality of life of the people living and working in long-term care communities. , NALTCV Be a Companion, Bring Joy! Join NALTCV, where we train volunteers to be companions for residents in long-term care communities. Shockingly, over half of them never receive a visit, battling loneliness daily. As a Companion, your role is simple but profound. You befriend residents, build meaningful relationships, and create personalized activities limited only by your imagination. It could be music, art, sports, reading, or just a friendly chat-tailored to their preferences. Collaboration is key. Work as a "team player" alongside professional care staff. Your role is to assist, not criticize. You'll likely partner with an activity professional, who plans activities and identifies those in need of a visit.
