Job Description

The Support Coordinator will assist with all aspects of patient care, including coordinating clinic schedules, patient appointments, and follow-ups. Responsibilities include answering patient phone calls, verifying insurance benefits, preparing charts and charge tickets for clinic visits, and coordinating the scheduling of surgeries and diagnostic testing. This role also involves assisting with office clerical duties and acting as a liaison between the clinic and referring physicians.

Essential Duties:

• Greets patients in a courteous and professional manner.
• Adheres to protect patient confidentiality.
• Processes new referrals in a timely manner, including obtaining required medical records and scheduling patients in the clinic.
• Schedules patient evaluations and mandatory teaching classes, accommodating patient needs.
• Notifies patients of upcoming appointments in a timely manner.
• Communicates changes in patient and case information to all involved personnel.
• Demonstrates accuracy in entering information into computer systems.
• Works with hospital personnel to resolve issues and accommodate patients.
• Preps charts for clinic and assists with clerical and scheduling needs.
• Provides phone coverage as needed and demonstrates flexibility in covering for other staff members.
• Works independently and in a team setting to accomplish duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year of experience in an acute care or ambulatory care setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Familiarity with word processing, IDX, Cerner, PBAR, and scheduling software preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) required within 30 days of hire if not already obtained.

The hourly rate for this position is $22.00 - $34.18.
