Job Description

Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Atlanta, Georgia. In this role, you will focus on managing financial tasks, including addressing a substantial backlog of bank reconciliations. This position requires strong accounting expertise and familiarity with tools such as Aderant and Excel to perform key financial functions effectively. Responsibilities: - Perform detailed bank reconciliations to address and resolve backlog issues. - Utilize Aderant software to manage legal-specific accounting tasks. - Prepare and analyze corporate tax returns and sales tax documentation. - Generate and review journal entries to maintain accurate financial records. - Update and maintain the general ledger with precise and timely entries. - Create advanced Excel reports, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, for financial analysis. - Collaborate with the Controller and Reporting/Analytics Director to streamline accounting processes. - Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards in accounting operations. Requirements - Proven experience in performing bank reconciliations and resolving financial discrepancies. - Proficiency in Aderant software or similar legal accounting tools is preferred. - Strong knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions. - Solid understanding of corporate tax, sales tax, and tax return preparation. - Background in managing journal entries and maintaining accurate general ledger records. - Ability to work onsite and adapt to a fast-paced environment. - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. - Previous experience in a legal industry setting is a plus but not required.
