Position Overview
The Scientific Director will lead all basic, translational, and clinical research activities at the Institute. This includes oversight of:
12 NIH-funded laboratories across Surgery, Medicine, Pathology, and Immunology Research programs involving murine, NHP, and human models Biobank-supported human tissue and cell studies Clinical research infrastructure , including coordinators and regulatory staff Administrative and grant management teams Educational and training programs , including an NIH T32 grant The Director will manage the Institute’s research budget and work closely with the Clinical Director, department chairs, the Dean of the School of Medicine, and UPMC leadership to align STI’s mission with institutional goals.
