Job Description

Our client is a leading manufacturer and innovator in the agricultural equipment industry, dedicated to designing and producing state-of-the-art machinery that drives efficiency and enhances agricultural productivity. Seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and strategic Purchasing Manager to lead the procurement function.

This role is responsible for sourcing high-quality components, negotiating supplier contracts, managing inventory levels, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials that support production schedules. The Purchasing Manager plays a critical role in supporting engineering specifications, production demands, and overall operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers for raw materials, mechanical components, steel fabrication, hydraulics, and outsourced assemblies specific to agricultural equipment.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality to ensure purchased components meet technical and performance requirements.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels based on production needs and forecasting.
  • Monitor supplier performance; address issues and drive corrective action when needed.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing, supplier consolidation, and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, ISO standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems to manage purchasing activities, purchase orders, and inventory transactions.
  • Prepare and present reports on cost trends, supplier performance, and on-time delivery metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field (highly preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing or supply chain management within a manufacturing environment; agricultural equipment or heavy machinery experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical components, steel fabrication, hydraulics, and commodity materials.
  • Proven negotiation capabilities and experience managing supplier relationships.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and interpret engineering requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPM or related supply chain certification.
  • Experience working in ISO 9001:2015certified manufacturing environments.
  • Background in lean manufacturing or just-in-time (JIT) inventory systems.
  • Familiarity with international sourcing and logistics.

Work Environment
This hybrid role requires presence at both the Manteca and Gridley locations.

The position involves work in indoor and outdoor environments, including occasional exposure to chemicals, paints, hot work areas, high temperatures, dirt, noise, uneven surfaces, and extreme weather during field visits.

Compensation: 80-120k a year
