Job Description and Duties

The Program Technician (PT) II in the Imaging and Record Services Section processes the more complex and sensitive documents and workflows for entry into the Automated Archive System (AAS). The PT II also monitors and processes the Verification, Error Resolution, Expedite, and Final Resolution Queues within the primary scanning application, the Justice Electronic Document Imaging (JEDI) system. The PT II performs various inquiries and activities into the Automated Criminal History System, AAS, Folder Control System, and JEDI, in addition to various tasks related to the processing of fingerprint cards. The PT II must determine the completeness and accuracy of criminal history source documents and be familiar with the criminal justice system and reporting processes for criminal history.

The PT II also provides training and secondary verification review of work produced by various levels of staff in the section, ensuring the final product meets content requirements as needed on the multiple workflows and processes.

Working Conditions

This position is designated for telework under Government Code section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and may require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Justice policies.

This position is eligible for telework, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Processes, reviews, and analyzes documents scanned through a high-speed scanning device to capture source criminal history data
  • Reviews, analyzes, and interprets information on documents for accuracy
  • Provide training for PT, PT II, Office Assistant, Youth Aid, and Student Assistant staff
  • Pulls and/or transports folders to various delivery/pickup points, scans/routes documents to appropriate areas for proper handling
  • Operates a scanner to convert fingerprint cards to electronic image
  • Sort Folder documents
  • Conducts inquiries into computer systems to analyze automated, hybrid, or manual records
  • Must be able to carry an armload of 6 to 10 inches of paper-filled folders and push a filled metal cart weighing up to 225 pounds
  • Occasionally stoop, kneel, and utilize a step stool to retrieve or file folders to or from mobile shelving units
  • Conducts other duties as assigned
