Job Description

il Leone is a sourdough wood fired Neapolitan pizza garden on an island in Portland, ME launching a new pizza and natural wine concept in Brooklyn this fall. We are looking for Pizza Line Cooks, who can join us for part or all of our upcoming summer season in Maine from late May-August (exact start date flexible) and then play a key role in helping to open our new Brooklyn restaurant following the conclusion of our Maine season Labor Day weekend.

i l Leone pizzas are 100 percent naturally leavened with a 72 hour sourdough fermentation, and produced using ingredients sourced from local organic farms and Italy - “wood fired pizza magic,” according to the   New York Times !

Pizza Line Cooks will report directly to il Leone's Chef-Owner, working very closely with him throughout the new Brooklyn restaurant opening, and play a key role in our NY operation into the future with many opportunities for growth within our new business. In addition to hourly salary, compensation also includes a stipend covering Maine island summer housing a few minutes walk from the beach for all weeks/months candidate is able to be in Maine. 

In Maine additional perks also include working in a very special outdoor kitchen atmosphere on a beautiful island in the summer, with opportunities for daily beach breaks and dips in the ocean. 

Responsibilities in both Brooklyn and Maine include but are not limited to:
-Stretching and topping pizzas throughout service
-Working the pizza oven 
-Prepping daily pizza toppings and ingredients for salads/side dishes
-Helping to prepare salads and antipasto plates during service as needed
-Assisting with daily setup and clean up 
-Assisting with expo as needed 
-Supporting our dough program including dough balling as needed
-Maintaining food safety/DOH standards thoughout our operation
-Working with team to monitor inventory of ingredients, supplies and prep needs

Pizza experience is welcomed but not required if one has a passion to learn and master our style of pizza making (Chef/owner will provide training and all necessary support to get the right candidate up to speed). Starting salary commensurate with experience.
