The Permanent/Intermittent Jewish Chaplain will be directed by the Program Assistant in Recovery and Mall Services at the Department of State Hospitals - Atascadero (ASH). The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to:
• Consult with hospital Clinical, Administrative, and RMS staff about religious dietaryrequests; review and approval of vendors; providing education*Minimum qualifications will be verified prior to being scheduled for an interview. Our facility is a 24 hour, 7 day a week facility. Position is intermittent, the maximum hours authorized is 1500 a year, you may work less hours during the year.
This position requires you to work within the Secured Treatment Area (STA).You MUST submit a copy of your letter of ordination, accreditation; from a recognized California rabbinical body, or certification and endorsement from the Board of Rabbi's of Northern or Southern California.

Either I: Ordained rabbi duly accredited by, and in good standing with, a recognized California rabbinical body OR II: A lay person or a vested Cantor who has demonstrated pastoral competence as certified and endorsed by the Board of Rabbis of Northern California or the Board of Rabbis of Southern California. AND Education: Completion of theological studies for ordination as a rabbi at a recognized Jewish theological school; and equivalent to graduation from college with a minimum of 12 semester units of counseling, psychology, or a related field.Required Application Package Documents
