EthosEnergy is seeking an O&M Technician (ICE) to join our team at Rhode Island State Energy Center (RISEC). The facility is a nominal 600MW combined cycle generating facility located in Johnston, RI. The IC&E Technician will be required to install, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation, controls, computers, and electrical systems of the facility. This equipment includes but is not limited to the Combustion Turbine Generators, auxiliary equipment and balance of plant. This role strictly adheres to all safety and environmental rules and regulations to protect personnel and public safety. Qualified applicants must have a minimum of 10 years' power plant experience and, five (5) + years of electrical and instrumentation experience in an industrial environment with the ability to demonstrate journeyman level knowledge.
Salary Range approved for this position per year is $83,200.00 - $124,800.00 based on experience and education
Job Responsibilities
- Capable of reading electrical drawings
- Diagnoses and repairs the cause of instrument and control system malfunctions including transmitters, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), plant or distributive control systems, instrument loops, flow meters, pressure probes, temperature probes, level probes, repair electrical systems control malfunctions of equipment such as transformers, relays, switches, control, generator monitoring and control systems, medium and high voltage distribution systems and monitoring devices.
- Digital Valve controller calibration, set up and troubleshooting
- Process transmitter Calibration and installation
- CEMS subject matter Expert (combustion Emission Monitoring system)
- Ovation, T3000, Mark VIe , Allen Bradley, controls system expert
- Skilled in reading and building Logic in DCS
- Racking in and out 4160 breakers
- Remote racking 4160 breakers
- 480 Breaker trouble shooting
- Familiar with Variable Speed Drives
- Subject matter Expert for Protective Relay and trouble shooting
- Subject Matter Expert for NERC related Testing
- Voltage Regulator Subject Mater Expert
- Megger testing motors
- Grounding motors
- Conducts all work activities in a professional, environmentally conscious, and safe manner.
- Assures operational efficiency, unit reliability and compliance with safety and environmental standards. Maintains and executes tactical processes in a team oriented, multi-disciplined environment.
- This position involves shift work, overtime, callouts, outage work, weekend, on call and holiday work 10-hour regular shifts.
- Self-directed and capable of working alone unless required for job specific tasks
- Installs new electrical equipment as required.
- Properly uses electrical test equipment and other similar tools.
- Performs (with assistance as needed) the maintenance of equipment by cleaning, adjusting, tightening, performing preventative or corrective maintenance and identifying equipment in need of corrective maintenance. Writes, submits and clears corrective work orders for approval.
- Performs 480V and high voltage switchyard basis electrical systems maintenance (consistent with EEG electrical safety practices) and supervise outside contractors in the performance of such work including the development of work scope and bid analysis.
- Performs routine generator electrical system test and inspections to the extent qualified and or supervise an outside contractor as required.
- Keeps LOMT on shift fully informed of unusual conditions and current job progress as the job relates to facility operations
- Uses facility operating procedures and equipment technical manuals to maintain and repair facility equipment and ensure equipment is operated within operating range.
- Fully supports the use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System by displaying proficiency in using the system and dedication to the facility maintenance philosophy.
- Performs CMMS data entry and work order close-out in a thorough and timely fashion.
- Visually inspects and maintains equipment by tightening fittings, replacing valve packing, gaskets, valves, and gauges. Cleaning, replacing, oiling and lubricating other component parts and equipment as required.
- Open and closes circuit breakers as required for proper system operation and electrical isolation.
- Maintains the cleanliness of all areas of the plant.
- Coordinates IC&E work with contractors as necessary.
- Updates drawings and prints as required.
- Supports Maintenance Manager in planning and scheduling duties, especially as related to outages.
Required Skills / Knowledge
- Instrumentation, Controls & Electrical school education preferred.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must understand 40CFR Part 75 and Part 60 environmental regulations.
- May be required to operate a forklift and similar equipment.
- Reads understands and complies with all regulatory and facility safety procedures.
