Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Industrial Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in analyzing and optimizing our kitting line. The intern will be involved in conducting time studies, simulations, and physical pilots, culminating in a comprehensive business case analysis and recommendation for implementing a one-piece flow manufacturing process.
How You Will Thrive And Create An Impact - Time Studies: Conduct detailed time studies to analyze the current kitting line processes, identify bottlenecks, and measure cycle times.
- Simulations: Develop and run simulations to model different scenarios and predict the impact of changes on the kitting line efficiency.
- Physical Pilot: Assist in the reorganization of the kitting line to test proposed improvements in a real-world setting.
- Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data from time studies, simulations, and physical pilots to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Business Case Analysis: Prepare a comprehensive business case analysis, including cost-benefit analysis, to support the implementation of a one-piece flow manufacturing process.
- Recommendations: Develop and present recommendations for transitioning to a one-piece flow manufacturing process, highlighting potential benefits and challenges.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and supply chain, to ensure alignment and successful implementation of process improvements.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of all analyses, simulations, and pilot results.
Who You Are - Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or master’s degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Minitab).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications - Previous internship or project experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering environment.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and one-piece flow concepts.
- Experience with time study techniques and process improvement methodologies.
