About the role

The Director of Environmental Compliance at Kerry is responsible for ensuring that the company adheres to all environmental regulations and standards. This role involves developing, implementing, and managing environmental compliance programs, policies, and procedures to minimize the company's environmental impact and ensure sustainable operations. The chief concern of the incumbent is the development, implementation, and maintenance of effective policies and procedures to ensure the protection of the environment and ease of operations; thereby, minimizing Company liability, ensuring compliance with environmental protection regulations at Federal, State, and local levels, and assisting efficient operation of company facilities.

Key responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Stay updated on changes in environmental laws and regulations.
•  Policy Development: Develop and implement environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance and promote sustainability.
•  Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular environmental audits and inspections to identify and mitigate compliance risks. Prepare and submit required environmental reports and documentation.
•  Training and Education: Provide training and guidance to employees on environmental compliance and best practices. Promote a culture of environmental responsibility within the organization.
•  Incident Management: Respond to environmental incidents and emergencies. Lead investigations and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
•  Sustainability Initiatives: Lead and support sustainability initiatives and projects aimed at reducing the company's environmental footprint.
•  Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, to address environmental compliance issues and promote transparency.
•  Reporting: Prepare and present reports on environmental compliance status, risks, and initiatives to senior management.
•  Procedure Development: Establish, coordinate, and participate in the development of environmental procedures, training, Contingency Plans, and waste disposal procedures.
•  Compliance Goals: Ensure company compliance with all Federal, State, and municipal air, water, and waste regulations. Prevent violations and penalties against the company for failure to protect the         environment.

Qualifications and skills

•  Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical field. A Master's degree is preferred.
•  Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental compliance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
•  Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) or similar are preferred.
•  Skills: Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and standards. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Comfortable interacting with all levels of the organization, from hourly operators to C-Suite leaders.
