Job Description

Who we are…

Pearl Health is powering the future of healthcare. We help primary care providers and organizations to deliver quality healthcare to the patients who need it most, when they need it most — and get rewarded for keeping patients healthy.

Our technology, services, and financial tools enable better, more proactive care, decrease total cost of care across patient panels, and optimize performance in value-based care models for Traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage.

We are a team of physicians and public health experts (Stanford, Harvard, Mount Sinai), technologists (athenahealth, Amazon, Meta, Flatiron), healthcare innovators (Centivo, Aledade, Stellar, Arcadia), and experienced risk management professionals (CVS/Aetna, Humana, Oscar) who believe that primary care providers are the key to addressing our healthcare system’s biggest challenges.

Since its founding in 2020, Pearl has expanded to partner with thousands of primary care providers in practices and organizations across 44 states. Our investors include Andreessen Horowitz, Viking Global Investors, AlleyCorp, and SV Angel.

The role…

The Deputy COO at Pearl Health will serve as a key executive leader responsible for driving operational excellence across the organization, reporting directly to the COO. This strategic role will oversee multiple critical domains including benchmark accuracy, Medicaid enrollment, MA performance operations, internal operations maturity, and enterprise-wide process optimization. The ideal candidate is an exceptional operational leader – and individual executor – with proven experience driving high-functioning teams and systems in complex environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the COO and other leaders to define, refine and execute Pearl Health's operational plan

  • Oversee critical business units including benchmark accuracy, MA performance, internal operations and automation, and beneficiary enrollment in government programs

  • Champion automation of repetitive tasks and workflows across departments, rolling up your sleeves to drive automation efforts

  • Partner with R&D and Finance leaders to maintain enterprise-wide single sources of truth for key data sources across the company

  • Design comprehensive KPI frameworks that drive accountability across all levels

  • Translate complex operational data into strategic insights that inform executive decisions

  • Oversee Pearl’s provider engagement strategy with respect to maximizing practice adoption of benchmark accuracy practices

  • Build scalable training programs that drive provider excellence in documentation

  • Orchestrate cross-departmental initiatives requiring complex stakeholder alignment

  • Negotiate and manage multi-million dollar vendor contracts, associated functions and relevant SLAs

  • Coordinate external partnerships to maximize value creation and minimize operational friction

Qualifications

Experience

  • 7+ years of operational leadership experience, demonstrating rapid progression

  • Proven success scaling operations in fast-paced and impact-driven, venture-backed companies

  • Track record of accelerating performance across multiple operational domains

  • Demonstrated experience in process optimization, automation, and operational transformation

  • History of successful collaboration with C-suite executives

Skills & Attributes

  • Hands-on bias, comfortable and energized by driving change both through leadership and individual execution

  • Exceptional strategic thinking with the ability to translate vision into executable plans

  • Outstanding leadership presence with the ability to drive change through collaboration and influence at all organizational levels

  • Superior analytical capabilities with a data-driven approach to operational excellence

  • Remarkable ability to thrive in creating order from ambiguity

  • Unparalleled execution skills with relentless focus on measurable outcomes

  • Extraordinary stakeholder management abilities in complex, matrixed environments

  • Exemplary communication skills, both in executive settings and cross-functional contexts

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or related field beneficial

  • Advanced training in operations management methodologies (or equivalent work experience) preferred
