Construction Project Accountant

Energy Talent Search is partnering with a well-established construction services company to find a skilled Construction Project Accountant to join their team. This role is based in Kingsford, Michigan, near the Michigan-Wisconsin border, and plays a critical role in managing financial operations, project cost controls, and budgeting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage financial reporting and cost tracking for multiple construction projects.
  
• Collaborate with project managers to develop budgets, track costs, and ensure financial accuracy.
  
• Prepare and analyze financial reports, including revenue forecasts, profitability assessments, and variance reports.
  
• Process and review accounts payable, receivables, and project-related financial transactions.
  
• Assist with month-end and year-end financial close processes, ensuring accuracy in reconciliations.
  
• Provide audit support by preparing financial records and responding to compliance inquiries.
  
• Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to support financial planning and business decision-making.
  
• Identify potential financial risks and recommend strategies to improve project costs efficiency.
  
• Work closely with internal teams to align financial operations with business objectives.
  

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  
• 7+ years of accounting/finance experience, preferably in a construction or project-based environment.
  
• Strong understanding of GAAP , financial reporting, and project cost accounting.
  
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., JDE, SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  

Work Environment

• On-site, five days a week at the company’s Kingsford, Michigan office.
  
• Office-based role with financial reporting, budgeting, and project accounting duties.
  
• Regular interaction with finance, project management, and operations teams.
