The Compliance Officer position is a fundamental position at United Bank. This position manages and implements the Bank’s overall Compliance Programs, including monitoring changes in regulations, impact on operations, and monitoring Bank performance. Develops, initiates, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Program and its related activities. Primary responsibility for reading, researching and interpreting regulatory and industry issues and communicating same to appropriate divisions of the Bank. Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future. Develops and maintains an adequate testing program to ensure continued compliance. Serves as chairperson for the Bank’s Compliance Committee and is responsible for coordinating banking compliance activities. Assists with the development and administration of the bank’s audit program. Works with the Human Resources Department and others to develop and administer the Compliance Training Program.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university and 5 years of work experience in bank compliance or related banking industry field. Has obtained or is working to obtain a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) or similar designation or has equivalent other qualifications from associated work experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents including financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to make effective presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and analysis of variance. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define and solve intellectual and practical problems and deal with variety of variables in situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Other Qualifications:

Have an advanced knowledge of Banking rules and regulations and the general mortgage lending and deposit taking process. Ability to seek out and offer business solutions to basic and complex compliance issues.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

A Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) or similar designation is preferred; however, equivalent other qualifications from associated work experience will be considered.
