BAQJ Consultants-Case Manager Job Description

Position Overview

BAQJ Consultants is seeking a qualified and compassionate Case Manager for clients with traumatic brain injuries and complex medical needs. This part-time position requires a dedicated healthcare professional who can provide exceptional case management services while accompanying clients to medical appointments and advocating for their care needs.

Schedule & Location

  • Position Type: Part-Time
  • Schedule: 3 days per week
  • Office Location: Southfield, Michigan
  • Reports To: Charesa Johnson, Owner

Key Responsibilities

  • Accompany clients to medical appointments and provide professional advocacy
  • Assess client needs and develop comprehensive care plans
  • Document and transcribe detailed client progress notes following each appointment
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers, insurance adjusters, and client guardians
  • Monitor client progress and adjust care strategies as needed
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with insurance requirements
  • Provide clear, professional communication to all stakeholders
  • Ensure client safety and well-being during all interactions

Required Qualifications

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in healthcare, social work, or case management
  • Experience working with individuals with complex medical needs
  • Current CPR certification

Essential Skills:

  • Situational Awareness: Must demonstrate excellent judgment and ability to assess and respond to changing situations
  • De-escalation Skills: Proven ability to calm and redirect clients in stressful or challenging situations
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for professional documentation and stakeholder interaction
  • Technology: Fluent in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) for documentation and reporting
  • Multi-tasking: Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
  • Stress Management: Must remain highly functional and professional in high-pressure situations

Transportation Requirements:

  • Must have reliable personal transportation
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Ability to travel throughout Metro Detroit area for client appointments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
  • Experience working with traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients
  • Knowledge of Michigan no-fault insurance and medical billing
  • Background in rehabilitation or long-term care settings
  • Certification in Case Management (CCM) or willingness to obtain

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to assist clients with mobility as needed
  • Capable of sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods during appointments
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
