AGRICULTURE ASSISTANT - FIELD HAND

Department: Agriculture
Reports To: Agriculture Department Farm Manager
Statues: Full Time/Permenant
Salary/Wages: $ 17.00

POSITION OVERVIEW : To assist Agriculture Technician in irrigation procedures, hay cutting, raking, baling, stacking and inventory control. Also assist in other activities as assigned by the Agriculture Technician and/or Director of Environmental/Agriculture Programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES :

• Running irrigation system, Pump and Sand Filter maintenance.
• Assembly/Disassembly, moving, installing and maintenance of irrigation pipe.
• Loading and stacking hay bales, operation of agricultural equipment.
• Operation/maintenance of equipment – as assigned.
• Fence repair as needed.
• Record keeping as required.
• All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• An understanding of farming, crops and organic farming techniques preferred.
• Quick learner, Reliable, willingness to follow directions.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Able to meet short deadlines/Quick turn around.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not mandatory.

OTHER REQUIRMENTS :

• Submit to pre-employment Drug-Testing.
• Comply with Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
• Ability of flexible schedule (including weekends, evening, and split workdays (if applicable).
• Valid Driver’s License (may waive for temporary position).
• Background-Check Required
